Our mission: To provide the highest quality of ambulance service to the residents of Mendocino County.
Medstar Ambulance of Mendocino County Inc., and its predecessor Ukiah Ambulance in its various forms over the years (our history) have continuously provided emergency ambulance service to the residents of Ukiah and greater inland Mendocino County since 1937.
Our revenue stream is made up mostly of fees for service billed directly to patients and insurance providers. Membership fees, grant funding and donations make up the balance of our operating and capital budgets. Combined with disciplined management of expenses, this model has allowed us to provide consistently reliable service to the communities we call home with no public subsidy or tax revenue.
Every dollar donated to Medstar is used exclusively to purchase emergency equipment and supplies, and to provide training to our dedicated staff. Here are just a few examples of how your donation, whatever the amount, can make a big impact:
| $25 | Stethoscope or blood pressure cuff to assess a patient's vital signs |
| $50 | Glucometer to quickly determine a patient's blood sugar level |
| $100 | Laryngoscope to insert ET (breathing) tubes to protect a patient's airway |
| $250 | Backboard to immobilize a patient with spinal injury |
| $500 | Medications such as epinephrine to counteract allergic reactions |
| $1000 | Portable suction unit to clear a patient's airway |
| $2500 | Automated external defibrillator (AED) |
| $25,000 | 12-lead cardiac monitor or ambulance stretcher |
Medstar Ambulance is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity. Your donation may be tax-deductible as allowed by law.
